Did you know you can become burnt out from dating? It usually occurs
when you just got out of a bad relationship. It could also come from
meeting the wrong guy or girl over and over again and having no luck in
dating. Well I have been here plenty of times and I never knew what I
should do. I didn't know if I should continue to date or just quit for a
while. Fox News Magazine suggests taking a break if you feel burnt out.
In an article entitled
“5 Signs You Need to Stop Dating and Be Alone For a While”, it explains
5 signs that prove you have had enough dating and you should take a
break.
- You think dating sounds awful.
If your reaction to dating is 80% negative and 20% positive then you
are not ready. Dating takes more energy than many people realize so it
is okay if you no longer feel excited about it. This just means you’re
exhausted and you need time to regroup. Take a break from meeting new
people and just focus on getting a positive outlook on love again.
- You don’t find it fun to look for someone new.
If even the thought of meeting someone new sounds dreadful, then you
should remain single. Finding someone new is a tough job so if you’re
not up for it then don’t waste your time. Just relax until you’re ready
to get back out there again.
- You feel emotionally exhausted
Has a past relationship ever took so much out of you that you felt
your feelings were no longer functioning? Like you couldn't feel anymore
even if you tried? If you feel this way then you definitely need to
remain single. It wouldn't be fair for someone full of love to walk into
your life and you be unable to reciprocate love back to them.
- You can only remember the bad parts of your past relationships.
Typically, when you end something with someone, you equally remember
the good and the bad. Well if you can only recall the bad, you are burnt
out in love. When this happens, you should really take a break and try
to heal your heart before dating again.
- You feel cynical or pessimistic about love.
“I’ll never love again!” How many times have you felt this way or
said this? It was probably after a really bad break up or a situation
that left your heart, feelings, or both in pain. Pessimistic thoughts
about love can actually manifest into failure in your love life. Our
thoughts really do control how many situations in our life turn out. If
you’re doubtful about love, take a break until you’re feel optimistic
again.
