How 27-year old South African goalkeeper was shot dead

27-year-old goalkeeper and captain of Bafana Bafana, South Africa’s senior football national team, Senzo Meyiwa was shot dead on Sunday, October 26, 2014.

The goalkeeper was attacked and killed by four armed men who gained entry into his girlfriend’s house in Vosloorus, south of Johannesburg.

The goalkeeper, who was bound to one of South Africa’s most recognised clubs, Orlando Pirates FC by contract, had played in all of South Africa’s four Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers so far.

On Saturday, October 25, 2014, he was in action for his club, helping them progress to the semi-finals of the South African League Cup as his team defeated Ajax Cape Town 4-1.
