Woman Conspires With Another Woman To Stab Husband To Death

A Magistrates' Court in Egor, Benin City, Edo State, on Monday, ordered a housewife, Adizat Owhe-Akere, 43, and Juliet Omozuefo, 23, to be remanded in prison for allegedly stabbing a man, John Owhe-Akere, to death.

The Magistrate, Igho Braimoh, gave the order following not guilty plea by the accused persons who are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy to commit felony and murder.
Police prosecutor, Corporal Ogundele Oluwale, told the court that the accused persons committed the offence on October 23 at Upper Siluko Road, Benin.
The prosecutor said the wife of the deceased conspired with Omozuefo to murder her husband.

"After conspiring with Adizat, Omozuefo unlawfully killed Owhe-Akere by using a knife to stab him on his chest which caused his death," Oluwale told the court.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened sections 324 and 319 (1) of the Criminal Code.

The code provides that anyone guilty of conspiracy to murder is liable to imprisonment for 14 years while anyone found guilty of murder shall be sentenced to death.
Igho directed that the case file should be duplicated and sent to the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.

She adjourned the case till February 19.
