They are called burkinis and have been put on sale by Middle England’s high street retailer Marks & Spencer.
The full-length swimwear is designed to protect the modesty of Muslim women as it “covers the whole body with the exception of the face, hands and feet”. It is also said to be “lightweight so you can swim in comfort”.
This marks the first time the UK arm of the company has stocked the product.
