How many girls are in this Instagram photo?

‘Phoneographer’ Tiziana Vergari recently posted a photo to Instagram that has caused international puzzlement.

The photo, which shows a long line of girls looking at each other, has half of Instagram totally tripping out over how many girls are actually in the image. How many girls do you see?
